Hi, I'm looking for some advice on a new build as I'm not very clued up with new hardware. I've been reading this forum a bit and I'm looking at this so far...

I'm wondering if my Corsair 520HX will cope with all of this ok or am I looking for a new PSU too? If so what would be good? I'm also keen on an SSD, seen one elsewhere for £75 for Kingston 64GB. Not sure but I'd like one for running Windows + few games. Thoughts?

Would this be a decent build? Looking to keep it around the £700 mark if possible.

Cheers

Decent build, maybe a slightly more beefy cooler? your psu is still good, get a OCZ or Corsair SSD, the Kingstons are pants.

All good choice. As stulid said the cooler could be a bit beefier, but should still take the 2500k to around 4.6GHz easily enough!

A Crucial RealSSD C300 is one of the best (if not the best) SSDs out there.

If you're looking for something cheaper, then the Patriot PS-100 isn't half bad.

Titan Fenrir Evo CPU Cooler would be a better choice.

+1 for going for a 6950 and flashing it get yourself a 6970!

Stick with the Crucial C300, very good drive for OS/applications.

But it's unneccessary. A Gelid Tranquillo will do the same job with less noise and for less cash.

HD6950 would be a good choice, but takes him/her closer to £750 than £700 - never ideal.

The Titan Fenrir is an awesome cooler. Few benchmarks here. It consistently performs on par with the Corsair H50/H70 and often matches the top air coolers like the Noctua D14.

Actually within a £700 budget he could get a 6950 and the cooler.

If gaming is the priority then this would be my choice*, especially has he could easily flash it to a 6970!

If boot time/ loading time is more important then I'd be getting a lesser graphics card for the Crucial RealSSD C300 64GB.

[*assuming playing at high resolution]

I know its a great cooler, but it's not strictly necessary :p

And +1 to your latter point.
