Hi guys im looking at purchasing a 144hz low response monitor and have seen the BenQ XL2720Z to be the best choice. After a little research i have come across some people saying there is a fault with the motion blur and light strobing (excuse my lack of knowledge on this). They also state that its kind of a lottery what firmware you receive v1 (broken?) or v2 (which is fixed?).

is this issue going to affect me? or am i better off going with another monitor like the Asus VG278HE?

Sorry if im off the mark with this as i'm not that clued up on monitors and thanks in advance for the help.

Asus have better colours at least out the box than the BenQ gaming range which some reviews and peeps say are horrid colours but one of the Asus 27" did get a bad review not sure if that one and if even a 144HZ model.

I would read a good few reviews if I were you.

V1 is fine if your not intending to use the low motion blur mode (it works but the double image ghosting is quite annoying). You only need V2 so this mode can run with less double image ghosting in the middle of the screen. At 144hz mode the motion blur is not bad so i never used that motion option, plus it adds at most another 5ms of input lag. Otherwise no difference between the two revisions, the choice is yours. The asus uses PWM so that craps up motion anyway. The benq is a really nice TN Panel i think when using gamma option 3 it has great colours as well. Benq gets my vote but perhaps you should await the g-sync version due shortly that would be excellent.

Forgot to say the benq needs to be run in the standard picture mode to look best. I have calibrated one and it calibrates almost perfect and i have used IPS before.

If you want a gaming monitor at 144hz with blur reduction, you're going to want a v2 so it can be used flawlessly. Or else, what's the point of getting a gaming monitor with blur reduction?

To be honest, you may aswell pay a bit less and get one without this functionality if you're not planning to use it.

Because most users don't actually notice any issues with the default behaviour of the BenQ 'Z' series. And don't really care if the 'problem' is moved around on the screen. It's nice to have the option to do so, but the number of users getting unnecessarily worried about something that they may not even notice is ridiculous.

The 2720T also has PWM flicker, so your better off paying the little bit extra and getting the Z series.
