having never oc'd a pc before i'd like to try and overclock my pc that i have built myself. i have Pentium E5300 2.6ghz with a Asus P5Q SER mother board. also geil black dragon 4gb ram. will this be a good combintion between motherboard and processor to OC? also will buy another cpu cooler to replace the stock one i have currently. not too fussed with big games either have a xfx nvidia 8400 gts.

Cheers in advance.

sam.

Hi sam, welcome to the forums :D

That CPU is great for overclocking. The stock FSB is only 200Mhz (800Mhz quad pumped), which is very low - so overclocking the FSB will be rather rewarding.

The motherboard is a reasonably cheap board in the P5Q family, but it is still a P45 chipset so should overclock well - especially considering the CPU you are using.

Can I confirm that the RAM is 2x2GB sticks? Or is it 4x1GB?

You will likely be limited by heat before the CPU or Mobo are maxxed out.

What will you mainly be using the PC for, if I may ask?

thanks for the welcome.
it's 2 X 2gb black dragons and as i have 2 play value ram sticks that are 2 X 1gbi have added them in also. i will only be internet browsing playing games like say GTA possibly and other small online games so not gonna strain any of it. i just wanted to try and see if i could OC my system.
