Some advice please.

So, with money being tight-ish, I am thinking about buying a twist-and-hope-to-go-some-where...or a Moped in english...

Being 21 soon, I can get some money from family and what not, so not such a big deal on that front.

But, I cannot ride a push bike, never ever been able to. How would I fair with a pedda?

Also, how much would I be looking at for insurance with 0NCB?

Also, what do I need to know about one?

Very badly. Scooters have small wheels and tend to be relatively unstable compared with larger wheeled machines. If you can't stay on a push bike, don't even think about getting powered 2 wheel transport (unless it's a Segway).

Once I have got moving with a push-bike I am fine, its just getting moving I cannot do.

Any way I can 'fix' that so to speak?

can i ask why you can't get moving on a push bike? is it a medical reason or you just can't get the confidence to push for the required momentum?

If you don't have the balance for a pushbike I would avoid motor cycles of any nature. While the speed keeps you very stable when moving you are more likely to fall over when going slow or stopped.

yeh if you can't balance on a push bike, don't purchase what you are contemplating, it'll end in tears and split skulls

I am ok once I get going. I shall keep trying to learn how to ride a pushbike....not good at 21 I tell you now!!

I am stunned to hear of your inability to ride a bike at your age. Therefore I would try learning to see if it is an in built failing or just lack of practice.

If you do indeed lack the motor skills and coordination to ride a bike then for your own safety and that of others stay away from all types of motorised transport!

Seriously though I imagine it's just practice but I wouldn't go moped without learning a push bike first.

You will have to do a CBT (Compulsory Basic Training) before you can use a moped on the road. This involves slow speed manoeuvring such as u-turns so you will have to overcome the low speed balance issue to do this.

What ever you was going to spend on a tarded death machine, spend that money on driving lessons instead.

Then ask family for a bit more money for a cheap first car.

Makes sense.

You really do having something in for me don't you lol.....

Im sure his family would much prefer there loved one to be on 4 wheels rather than a death trap moped. Especially when he can't even ride a pushbike.

Also whilst he is doing his driving lessons, he could think about getting a job or a better job what will help him pay his way with keeping a car on the road. But this is coming from someone who as never been a fan of mopeds and thinks anything below 125cc shouldn't be on the road.

Being ok while moving is a total moot point.

Start/stops and low speed work are just as important, if not MORE important. Hill starts on a moped on corners can be a total pain in the arse for example.

If you cannot do it on a bicycle, which is arguably much easier then do not even entertain the idea.

I have a full license, just wrote my E36 316i off, the tree just appeared...honest.

Moped is a damn site cheaper to run, in all aspects, I was spending ~£25-30 a week on fuel alone for the BMW.

I have a job, just running a car is expensive and I am not looking into it again anytime soon.
