Im getting a ATI Radeon HD 7850 2Gb soon to go with a i5 rig but am reconsidering returning it and spending more getting a 7950,GTX 670 or 680 after reading some reviews.Im using a single 24 inch dell monitor my question is should i keep the 7850 or invest quite a lot more in something else ?

What games do you play mostly? What made you go for the 7850 in the fist place? The 7950 is a great buy and will see you well for a good while but the 7850 with a decent overclock will also do well.

Unless you are into benchmarks, a 680 is expensive.

Yep, for now at least I'd rule out an NV card unless physx/3dvision is a requirement. Purely due to price.

As gregster pointed out, depending if you're willing to overclock may influence your decision. I'll also throw a 7870 into the hat, should OC up to and sometimes over stock 7950 performance and also reaped some impressive gains from 12.11, iirc the 7870 on average had the highest performance gains from 12.11 out of all of the 7800 & 7900 cards with somewhere between 10-15% gains.

Would like to have some certainty that it will run upcoming games like company of heroes 2,Hitman Absolution,Arma 3 at high-ultra settings at 1920x1200 mainly future proofing basically.Went from a gtx 260,q6600 rig.

Is the extra gig of vram on the 7950 really gonna make a significant performance improvement when compared with a 7850 2gb version, should i just wait until the gtx 670 drops in price?

The 670 is plug and play and the 7950 needs a bit of work to get the latest fps boosting betas working properly.

The extra 1GB of vram will make no odds (unless you add tons of mods in skyrim). I am a fan of Nvidia and am biased but if you can get the 7950 working properly, it will beat a 670.
