OK I have a Corsair Carbide 540 Air Cube Case ...as the PSU is mounted on its side would this have any affect on the Fan within the Power supply itself ?...I'm asking because I've used an XFX 850W and an XFX 650W PSU and have noticed a slight rattling from both units , but more so from the 850W .

thanks :)

Placing a Psu on its side should have no bearing on its use. providing the fan is not being completely blocked and its overheating, thus items such as pcb warping and things like capasitors ect are getting loose.

Iether way I think you need to find out what is rattling tbh,

I know I shouldn't have to tell you this, your psu is connected to motherboard/graphics cards. cpu/mem/harddrive. if it goes wrong and pops, there is a great potential for it to take out the other items also, leaving you with no pc or comeback.

In my experience, its better to be safe than sorry. get it checked out.

well i did take the cover off it...and couldnt see anything that didnt look like it shouldnt be there ie dust or any muck as such

maybe im just being overly paranoid about it
