Hi,
was just wondering how this works!
I had a friend who put there pc in a pc shop because it had a virus.
They said they had to back up there stuff and install windows. (not there own windows of course, as they dont have a copy of windows)
Does this mean the shop has installed a brand new sealed copy of windows?
so then the shop has to give them the new windows disc, as they have not said anything to them about giving them the disc?
Or do they have a different thing where they use windows that's legal to share on pc's they repair?

Thanks for your help :)

Well when I worked at "A Major High Street Retailer" which specializes in PC's (say no more), we charged £50 for a re-installation but only if you had the sticker on the back/bottom of the PC/laptop with the original product key. We used an OEM disc with all the manufactures login screens etc so it would be like new again.

As long as you have the product key I dont think you really need a shop though... but it is easier i suppose.

They didn't give them a disc, but installed a free copy of windows. ?
They said to them if u get a virus next time, there charge them to do it again of course..
So i thought that they would have give them a disc?
