I have a new blu ray player installed on the pc.
At the minute i have DVI from the 275 graphics card,to HDMI going to the LCD Screen. the card has a HDMI connection also.

Do i run a HDMI lead going from the card, to HMDI going to the screen ?
And in the graphics control settings, i have a an option to use 1080p res.
Do i choose this setting ?

Thanks a lot.

I would use the HDMI. It may be required for HDCP (Copy protection). Also, HDMI carries the audio (Think you may need an adpater of some sort, I really do not know tbh!). Also, what res is your TV? It will either be 720p/1080i or 1080p. Choose the one that matches your screen.

My res goes up to 1920x1200. and supports 1080p

I would recommend DVI as HDCP can still be done over DVI and in my experience has provided better brightness as for me the NVIDIA drivers limited the brightness output so everything looked washed out.

Then choose 1080p by 1920x1200 in the control panel ?.
I best get a HDMI to HDMI lead now then.:D

As you have a 16:10 monitor just leave it in native res; you will have bars but it's better than the image being stretched imo. HDMI wires aren't terribly expensive so give both a try really although I still think DVI is the better option :p

Oh right. so why doe's it have the option for 1080p in the control panel then ?
So leaving it at 1920x1200 (not choosing 1080p in the control panel) will make it HD. i'm not 100% sure with the set up of HD.
Would you say leave it at DVI to HDMI for gaming,(which is what i have now for gaming) and HDMI to HDMI for blue ray films ?
I never seen blue ray in person, only over the net. will i see huge differents on looks :D ?

Basically DVI will provide HD so you should use use a DVI-DVI wire and leave your monitor in 1920x1200 as it is an above HD resolution (1920x1080) so it will be full HD. Oh and yes Blu-Rays look MUCH better than HD net videos you see :D Merry Christmas!
