Well i have just upgraded my case to the antec 1200 from a small cooler master case, i upgraded due to some high temps on my cpu about 92 with no oc on 100% load (my cpu is an e5200) but i took the cooler off to clean out the dust before putting it into my new case the thermal paste (standard stuff pre applied from intel) was cracked and dry. I remounted the cooler rebuilt the pc and booted up, opened up real temp and was reading 101 c on 60% load. Im unsure of the problem here, possibly my cooler i was thinking to replace the cooler and some new thermal paste, any ideas ?

Thanks

So you put the cooler back on top of the cracked and dry thermal paste? No wonder your temps are shot.

Every time you remove a cooler you need to reapply the thermal paste.

If you are using the stock cooler then perhaps you should look into replacing it with as more competent model. Maybe the Artic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro Rev 2 http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=HS-035-AR&groupid=701&catid=57&subcat=1395 or maybe the Gelid http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=HS-001-GD&groupid=701&catid=57&subcat=1395

Depends how much you want to spend. Don't forget to pick up some MX3 while you are there http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=TH-002-AR&groupid=701&catid=57&subcat=27
