Looks like someone has thrown a beer/milk bottle at it as there were shards of glass on the bonnet/wipers and its not from the windscreen itself.

Vision is hardly impared but I assume it's not legal to drive like that?

I paid something like £120 for an omega windscreen, which is no doubt larger than a mondeo one, if that makes any odds.

Might not be worth claiming if your under 23 ish. Cheaper to just fix it if you include premium bumps and whatnot.
Glass is usually covered under a seperate part of the policy, it'll have no impact on the NCB. Assuming you have a decent insurer.

Under 23, wtf?

I've claimed for no less than 4 windscreens on two separate cars, at the ages of 19, 20, 21 and 22, £50 excess each time, with no reprocussions to insurance in either the form of price hikes or even record of me having made any claims.

With Direct Line, but TPFT only, doubt it'll cover it.

Sorry i just assumed it counted as a claim on insurance  .

So you just pay 50 quid excess, and thats it!? Hmm sounds suspisciously normal to me, and not insurance company grabbing your money.

I had three stonechips repaired on my Audi and it cost me absolutely nothing. Not even my excess.

I had the screen in my Scooby done for £50 and most recently the back window on my Ibiza for £60 (Privilege).

Bad stuff, I have a scuff to the metal on like 1/4 of my wing / a bit on bumper ~ cost me about £1000 to get replaced and 400 ish to get repaired but luckily theres a decent guy I found who charges £150, so see how goes. I wouldnt claim off insurance though, wouldnt that result in your premium going up? :/

See above. Glass replacemnet does not affect your no calims bonus. I had mine replaced a couple fo montsh ago. Halifax insurance just referred me to RAC windscreens, £50 excess for me to pay and that was that.

I'm TPFT only though.

Dad's going to call Direct Line when he finishes his meetings as he's the policy holder.

It doesn't affect NCB but apparently the ins companies are getting tighter on it. It's still regarded as a claim and you are still expected to declare it when looking for renewals next year.

I had windscreen cover on my last TPFT, and i deliberately chose the cheapest quote irrespective of the cover.

No glass cover on the insurance unfortunately.

Got a much more respectable quote from Auto Windshields at £158.

Just going to bounce a few companies off each other see what I can get now.

Try the RAC Windscreen company. They were much much cheaper than autoglass. Only charged £65 for a new screen on my 205. Autoglass wanted almost £300

that'll teach you to save like £30 over a fully comp policy. i had a stone chip on mine and it spread from the very edge, right across the middle and then downwards, insurance sent someone round 2 days after phoning them and fitted a new one for £50 :D
