Some channels have better signal than others?

With my compro dtv-200 some channels like bbc have 90% signal strength while other channels like Itv have 40% signal strength, why is this? I live about 1 mile away from the transmitter.

Perhaps it's related to the original signal's power. A 50 kW station might be registering much higher than a more local 5 kW station.

Yes ITV has a weaker signal then BBC this is the same all over the UK
