I've been looking into getting a new console as I have grown tired of my original xbox. Now the 360 looks tempting but once I have bought the console with a few games it will not be a small outlay and will make me buy a new TV too! Now the Wii looks appealing but chances of getting one are pretty much zero and the games line up in the next few months doesn't look that wide (and I cant find any mention of mario kart yet for it!)
Now would I be better going for a gamecube as I love mario, mariokart, etc and just having lots of cheap fun (graphics not too much of an selling point for me) or would I be better off getting a ds lite? Any advice / comments much appreciated.

thanks

tom

I reckon from what you have said a Gamecube would be perfect.

Get Mario Kart and Mario Sunshine and that will keep you busy for a while. Good value for money nowadays too, wish I had never got rid of mine really :(

and you can play the new zelda & resi 4 if they interest you. Then when wii's have a better catalogue & availability, just carry your cube games, pads, memory card over.

Thanks for all the quick responses guys - looks like a gamecube would be a great option. will look at the old auction site when back from work this evening. Cube, couple of wireless pads, couple of wired ones, mariokart, zelda, which other games are essential for this system?

Resident Evil games if you are into them. I really liked Resi Evil 5.

Luigi's Mansion I found fairly enjoyable too.
SSX 3 was one of my favourite games on the system.
Pikmin was pretty fun to a point too.

Battalion Wars is good fun too & Metroid Prime 1 & 2 have been my favourite games this generation. Also, one of the monkey balls for multiplayer or timesplitters 3 for multiplayer shooting.

Get mario sunshine, eternal darkness, starfox adventures, zelda, metal gear solid, resi evil, ikaruga and animal crossing.

job done ! :D

There is a new SSX coming to The Wii, SSX Blur, It's an exclusive apparently, not sure when it will be available.

SSX was so addictive and fun, things went downhill rapidly with On Tour but hopefully Blur will be a return to form.

Metroid Prime 1+2, Zelda and Mario Sunshine are all superb GC games :)

Yeah ive just got to 49 shines on mario sunshine last night at the GFs house. man some of the levels are frustrating!

Don't forget the worlds best game ever created twilight princess is coming to the Gamecube. I think it comes out on the 15th of this month.

My fave game on the cube has to be Eternal Darknes: Saint's Requiem.
