The numbers presented in this article should only be interpreted as “a brief look at the state of scaling performance generated by AMD’s current beta CrossFireX driver”. Again, the numbers presented in this article are tentative -by no means are they or should they be interpreted as directly indicative of the performance that CrossFireX will deliver upon its official release.

You certainly have been busy researching the new x2, much appreciated though.

The results certainly look promising, especially in FEAR (considering it is an oldish game) and to some extent CoJ.

Just as long as ATi/AMD keep it up with the frequent drivers updates, all is looking well. Will just need to see how the 9800GTX2 stacks up when it is released.

That is pretty amazing even if to be taken with a pinch of salt :D. I'm sure 3dmark was CPU bound even at 4.2Ghz on a quad 45nm due to the default resolution of 1280x1024. I really think in the times that we are in that we should raise the default benchmark of 1280x1024 and run at least at 1680x1050 as that's the average screen size from members who posted in the screen size poll. We should take the CPU bound scenario out of the equation and progress forward as new hardware comes out. Not stick to the small resolution it's always been when we have all this new hardware. I know this is the way it's always been done but surely we need to move on.

Any opinions on the new resolution I'm proposing for 3dmark?.

That does sound like a feasible option J.D, especially when looking at games like Crysis that are mainly GPU bound.

Just need to upgrade my 17" TFT now so i can make use of the resolution :D

:D Glad that you support my proposal even though you don't have the resolution mentioned and that speaks wonders ;). Thank you.

Hope you get your upgrade soon :D.

Haha, no problem. I will be looking to get a 22" when i get paid next, would have got it this month but i have quite a bit of expense going on, having to pay for a weekend at the Forest of Arden golf course and also holiday payment.

Added to this the slightly extravagant 3870X2 purchase and i am running a bit low on funds :p
