Some euestions before I order a Sony Vaio FW

Ok i'm about to order a Sony Vaio VGNFW35X. Here's the specs :-

Your configuration
Processor: Intel® Core(TM)2 Duo 2.66 GHz
Hard drive: 320 GB Serial ATA (5400 rpm)
Memory: 4 GB 800MHz DDR2 SDRAM
Optical Drive: Blu-ray Disc(TM) Combo-drive

Graphics: ATI MobilityRadeonHD3650 512MB
Operating system: Vista® Home Premium - (64 bit)

Will I be able to change the hard drive to a 7200rpm sold at OCUK and if so will the 7200rpm be much more noisier?

Will I void the warranty chnaging the Hard Drive?

Will a HD3650 run WoW and CS:Source at 1600x900 at a smooth FPS?

Will 4gb be enough for vista64 and gaming?

yeah you can change the hdd, no it wont be much louder, although the seek with be audible, no it wont void the warrenty.

yes you can run cs:s smooth with medium detail (it isnt a gaming gpu) and yes 4gb is fine for vista. although windows 7 is even better.

from a (still) very happy fw11s owner with a wd scorpio black 320gb hdd :)


oh and the wd black is a very good upgrade over the standard drives:)

How noise is subjective but how much more noticable is it? I'm very sensitive to noise.

Also how thick is a VAIO FW and is it light and easy to carry?

why would it? the hard drive cover is held in with one screw lol. its not like you have to take the case apart :) sony are very relaxed abotu hdd upgrades but you are correct, the OP should check if in doubt :) worst comes to worst, he can just put the original drive back in if anything goes wrong :)

from being inaudiable to....audiable when itw working away. it isnt loud at all. quieter than the system fan which itself...isnt loud.

as for weight, its on the website - 3.1kg. its a 16" laptop so its not the smallest, but no they arent hard to carry at all imo, but nothing like the ease of say..a samsung NC10
