Nice pics. Can't wait for the 737 NGX from PMDG. What fsx.cfg tweaks are you using?

I am getting constant 30fps but trying to iron out the microstutters still. Beast of a game to run!

How would it run on my rig:

AMD 965 Quad @ 3800Mhz
4GB DDR3 1600Mhz @ 8-8-8-8-20
Samsung F3
X52
5870 @ Stock
1920x 1080p res

Is it easier than Blackshark?

I can fly the blackshark but am struggling with flying and killing things at the same time lol.

Is there any point in getting this if you don't have a joystick and what not? I've only got a KB and Mouse and an Xbox 360 pad. Waste of money and time getting the game?

Oxy, your spec should be fine albeit it won't let you run maxed sliders perhaps but worth a try. Applying updates to the shader model files will help with an ATI card.

Ahleckz, joystick or flight yoke is pretty much essential - flying with the arrows is impossible!

Thanks guys :)

Yea the scenery addon in these pics is GEX North America. The plane is freeware by Posky.

Without doubt! You *need* a stick to play this....playing with arrows is just a huge pain in the ass and takes all the fun out of it. I strongly suggest a stick with a throttle control. You dont have to blow loads of money either. This ones just under £17 and has all the essentials for simming - twisting action,hat-switch & throttle.

Its on Amazon

I got mine running real smooth. Initial things you can do:

-kill/reduce traffic (boats, road traffic, airport traffic) this is a huge FPS killer
-no need to have water effect maxed out
-scenery density & autogen: reduce a notch
-disable lens flare and all that stuff
-try flying with FPS *unlocked* and compare to when its locked to say 35FPS or something. Some simmers have reported unlocked FPS=smoother. But not every PC is equal so you'll have to play with this one.

I didnt notice much diff with this one but you can try it:

If you add these two lines to the [TERRAIN] section of your FSX.CFG, you can define the max number of objects in a terrain cell for trees and buildings independently. The slider will scale down from the numbers you set as the slider is moved to the left. The max tree value in FSX as released is coded to default to 4500 and the building default is 3000 (as shown below) and the absolute max FSX will recognize at all is 6000. Of course if you raise the values beyond the defaults, you will obviously be increasing density and lowering fps (so don't complain if you do this...). The point in sharing this information is that with these settings you can specify what the values are yourself. Be sure not to set either number to 0 as that will cause problems, but setting it to a very lower number will give you nearly 0 objects.

TERRAIN_MAX_AUTOGEN_TREES_PER_CELL=4500

TERRAIN_MAX_AUTOGEN_BUILDINGS_PER_CELL=3000

Not sure if that link classifies as competitors....

Hmm...now u got me wondering so I deleted the link to it. I seem to remember an updated FAQ on the rules changing. As long as the "core business" of the other company is not PC components then its ok to mention or link to it (unsure about the linking though). So from what I remember Amazon & Play have been given the green light to be mentioned on these forums.

Perhaps someone can clarify :)

Not necessarily true. With my Level D 767-300ER and PMDG 747-400 I could fly an using just the down arrow to rotate on takeoff. After the aircraft was a few hundred feet up I'd engage the autopilot and fly using the mouse to make inputs to the MCP and then fly the route I'd pre-programmed into the FMC, all the way down to a fully automatic ILS-Cat III landing. But then again, there's no fun in that.

I was talking to a couple of guys at work who play this and they mentioned the Autopilot.

My question was, what is the point in playing a game that does it all for you? It may as well be a screensaver.

being new to the whole fsx base i,m having to build a p.c for a client for just such a game

Pointers for mod's please

or good ref guides

how much ram does the game use will 4gb be o.k or is it worth going bigger ?

As a kid I always wanted to be a pilot. I'm 26 now and it hasn't happened, and given the cost of the training, I doubt it ever will. This for me, was a small way of seeing if I was good enough I suppose. I mean the aircraft doesn't do it all for you, and there's a lot of work programming the aircraft's systems, starting it up and so forth. I used to keep all my flights short as well, under half an hour or so if I could, so that I was constantly doing something. I couldn't have been one of those virtual airlines types that fly real-time from Heathrow to Singapore for example.

There has to be a way dude...the world is HURTIN for pilots...in Asia they are so worried cuz some airlines have more planes on order than they have pilots to fly em!

Have you thought about the military? C-17s = sweeet!

I was flying the Level D 767 in heavy thunderstorms and was still managing a constant 30 FPS (using in game limiter) and the performance was great. The 10.6 drivers were hopeless for me.
