OK chaps here's the deal... I updated my BIOS and as a result had to wipe out my current over clock settings which were done by the chaps who did the over clock in the first place. As it currently stands I have got my 4GHz over clock back again but my idle temps have jumped up by nearly 10 degree's Celcius  so I was hoping that you knowledgeable lot would help and tweak this.

I think I have too much in the way of vcore but I have no idea really so didn't want to starting messing with stuff (he says). I have increased the BCLK and the multiplier but not touched anything else. My motherboard is the GA-X58A-UD3R rev1.0 with BIOS F7 and have 12GB of RAM (all sockets used).

Here is a screen shot of HWmonitor and CPU-Z if there is anything else you need to know or look at please just let me know.

Thanks for that! I will also drop the multiplier down to 21 since from what I have read everybody says to have it set to that so I will up the BCLK instead along with dropping Vcore and see if my temps come down.

Wish I had written down the previous settings before the BIOS update but hey ho.

for 4GHz on my 920 (similar chip), i needed just over 1.25v, i need what you've got there for 4.2GHz tho :p

as said, dial it back, maybe not jumping straight to 1.3, try 1.35, and boot, run prime for 10/15 mins to check initial stability, dial back etc. eventually you'll find a nice quiescence :)

OK tried dropping down one notch for the Vcore and when I reboot HWmonitor says my Vcore has dropped down to 1.25 . It was at 1.28765 and I drop it to 1.2825x or something along those lines so I have no idea what the hell is going on here.

Idle temps are now at 50 degree's and with Prime running they top out at about 77 degrees (had it running for 15 minutes just for a quick test, all other test resulted in a BSOD).

The lower Vcore you are experiencing is probably due to something called 'Vdroop'.

It's very common and nothing to worry about, Goole it for info about it.

Thanks pooley I have read bits and pieces about that but most of it goes over my head to be honest. I will be pulling my cooler apart and cleaning the radiator see if that helps too.
