I have read the excellent thread/review regarding the Thermalright LGA775 Bolt-Thru-Kit and how somebody combined this with a stock intel heatsink: http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=17931553&highlight=intel+stock+cooler+mod

Im finding it hard to track one of these thermalright kits down but found an alternative designed for waterblocks, the EK CPU Waterblock Mounting Hardware kit which might do the job. I cant suss out if there will be a problem with the silver thumbscrew things that are used to tighten everything down, Im thinking they could foul up against the heatsink fins making it impossible or very awkward...

I want to use this:

Has anyone tried this combination?

The ek kit is four m4 screws, some washers and some knurled nuts. So if you buy it and the screws are too long, have a look for a local diy place and buy some shorter ones. Or use a hacksaw, either works.

If you use a hacksaw, make sure you put the nuts on the bolt *before* you cut the end off (so that the nuts are between the area you're cutting, and end you're not cutting off) - that way, once you've hacked at the end, you can just simply unscrew the nuts, and you'll make the thread nice and clean.

If you don't, you'll struggle to put the nuts on ;)
