Hi everyone I need some help with this overclocking and would like to get into it. My PC has some good stuff in it like, E6600, Artic Cooler, Gigabyte P35 DQ6, GeiL 2x2GB (800MhZ).

I have been going to the BIOS and changing the value under the M.I.B Tweaker especially the Core Frequency and have seen the values go higher when I ran CPU-Z. I am concerned about leaving the voltage as "AUTO" should I be?

I have these values, they any good for a E6600?

Spec: 2.40 GhZ
Core Speed: 1740.1 MhZ Jumps to 2610 MhZ
Multiplier x 9.0 jumps to x 6.0 sometimes
Bus Speed 290.0 MhZ
Rated FSB: 1160.0 MhZ

How do I keep it to x9.0 all the time and it seems to be switching from x6 and x9 after every few seconds...

Thanks in advance, PiKkOn

Speedstep is changing the multiplier. It just reduces/increases the multiplier according to load on the cpu. You can disable this in the bios if you wish.

As far as cpu voltage goes, it's usually best to set the voltage to the recommended for your cpu (should be 1.325v for your E6600), and see how far it overclocks on that. The auto voltage just seems to start bumping it up too early in my experience.

Just take the overclock in small steps, and make sure your system is stable after each increase. There's a lot of info on the Overclocking/Cooling forums, so i'll not go into too much detail here.

Good luck!

I agree with te above. I left mine on auto and at 3.2 GHz it was putting 1.45v through it, I adjusted it manually and its totally stable at 1.335v, lower than stock!! Auto increases it way too much, way too early.
