My brother just got a new gfx card for his computer, an 5450,
with the idea of running his tv off it, however I can't seem to get a display
From it on either dvi or vga but the card is spinning up.

I thought the reason was the mobo may not support x16
Cards but after looking it does.

Plugging the old card in works as normal.

Any ideas?

It won't even give me a display to get drivers, and I
Thought that it wouldn't even spin up at all if the psu
Was insufficient

Yea it is a monitor I'm trying with no luck

Could it be a problem with the card?

Would it be possible for it to spin up but give no display?

Have you disabled the onboard GPU?.

You can try resetting the CMOS and restarting to see if that helps, if not then just hook the monitor to the onboard graphics again, go into BIOS and disable the onboard VGA, then save, power down, put new card in and then boot.

I just wanted to bump this as im still struggling, I tried
Resetting the cmos with no Joy, also the monitor doesn't
Seem to run from the on board graphics and they don't
Appear as a display adapter in device manager
