Hi guys.

I need some help getting some extra Ethernet ports for my Bitcoin miners.

I have a superhub2 and all 4 ports on the back are taken up. PC, Smart TV, Xbox, Antminer S3.

I'm wanting to relocate my 4 miners to another room but at present I'm 3 ports short.

How can I get extra ports?

I've been looking on the net trying to find out but I'm not sure what I'm looking for if I'm honest.

Could I run an Ethernet cable from the back of my superbug to a switch? That would give me 8 extra ports??

Thanks for any help and advice

Chris

do you want or need a Gigabit switch for those connections?

10/100 switches are a bit cheaper but less re-usable afterwards.

Yes, you just connect the switch to the router with an Ethernet cable. There's nothing to configure, it'll just work.

You'll only actually have six extra ports because you loose two ports connecting them together.

If you have..

1x 4 port router
1x 8 port switch

One cable has to connect the router to the switch, so you're left with..

3 on the router
7 on the switch

=10 ports total.

Get a gigabit switch
