Hey everyone,

I've recently got a macbook pro and wanted to install xp on a small partition using bootcamp just for the sake of having a couple of games and office applicatiosn on there. I followed the bootcamp assistant tool and all was going well until it rebooted when setting up windows and i got the following error:

disk read error.
Press any key to restart

Upon some research i needed to have made sure the partition was formatted before the install, which i didnt, but how do i format this partition so i can install windows successfully on it?

I tried using the disk utility but i cudnt find an option, i used the clean option and it said it formatted it to FAT file system but i recieved the same error message :( any thoughts on whats going on?

Ahh ok thanks ill give that a try when i get home :) the only problem is that when i use the bootcamp utility that option doenst come up when i install xp. Im assuming bootcamp has tried to account for it already but failing so to speak. so if i just create a bootcamp partition, start the mac up with the windows install disk and run the install normally it should let me choose the partition?
