hi all,

As the title saids really, I have a canon 450D and I'm having a little trouble with it.

Does anyone know how to change the exposer setting while in bulb mode???

I was out last night and I set everything to how I wanted it, shutter speed, F stop, metering mode etc but couldn't find a way to change the exposer up a couple of stop's.

Any ideas??

Cheers in advance!
:)

Bulb mode holds the shutter open for as long as you hold the button down. You change the exposure by changing how long you open the shutter.

In an auto mode if you offset the EV bias by +1 / +2 etc all it would do is keep the shutter open for twice as long for each stop increase. In manual mode there is no reason to change the ev bias as you would be doing it manually with the shutter speed or f stop (auto modes use shutter speed only so as to not affect the DoF).

Also it is unlikely you are in bulb mode if you have pre-set a shutter speed..

I don't mean to sound condescending but maybe you should get a book on exposure or at least read your camera's manual :).

allready done.

The reason I ask is my mate was using a Nikon D70 and while in bulb mode he is able to change the exposure step. shorting the amount of time his shutter had to be open. speeding up the whole process.

I'm aware that openning the shutter for longer will give the same result, but I asked because when I do really long shutter speeds (10min or so) it takes an age to process the image (with noise reduction for long exposure's on)

Hmm, well maybe it opens the aperture another stop, or ups the ISO a stop. Either way you can easily do it yourself :).
