wow its been a while since I have been here (used to post and play as Preacher Cain) but anyway ..

Recently managed to scrape together enough for a smallish upgrade from here I now have

AMD Bulldozer FX-4 Quad Core 4100 Black Edition 3.60Ghz
in a
Gigabyte 970A-DS3 AMD 970A (Socket AM3+) DDR3 Motherboard

the CPU was great as it was a 3.6 that was unlocked and the reviews mentioned that people were managing over 4 gig so that sounded right up my street as 4 Gig on it would be great ... so could anyone kindly help me out as to what I need to do

I am fairly familiar with the BIOS etc but not overclocking side

There is an option to change the CPU multiplier from Auto to 20 .... when I do this the clock speed does change from 3.6 to 4 gig ...

Is this seriously all I need to do or is there more ....

any help would be very much appreciated

Cheers guys

Firstly are you using the stock cooler? And if you are is it thr one with the copper heat pipes or the just aluminium? If you put the multiplier to 20 and leave the voltage on auto it should work fine, but if you set the voltage manually then i should run cooler and use less power.

I got mine to 4.4Ghz stable by increasing the multiplier but had to increase voltage to 1.5 to get there.

Thanks for the reply jumper ... it is the stock cooler just a solid block of aluminium no copper piping but the fan is a deep red

Nice to know thats all I need to do I cant believe how easy the Overclock is :)

Orch im going to keep it at 4 for now I really wnat to avoid messing with voltage if i can

Thanks for the help guys :)

if your on the stock cooler you need to watch the temps and make sure it doesn't get hot under load (62c is the max i would go to). If you want to go further in the you can get good after market coolers for under £30.
