Hi there,

I don't really understand how paging files work and have done some reading on it but it hasn't 'clicked'.

I was getting some RAM warnings in Vista 64 so I changed the allocations and everything seems a lot better. I have 3GB of RAM and have changed the custom size to

Min: 1024
Max: 4500

Everything seems to be going very well. My question is, can I improve these at all? Or is that quite an arbitrary question?

If you have another HDD, move the main pagefile over onto that, and make it 3GB (3072MB), ie. min: 3072MB, max: 3072MB, (basically you are creating a "static" pagefile), to mirror your 3GB of physical ram, then make a small (static) pagefile on your C:\ part/HDD, to allow for dump files to be created if needed.

Or you could simply set the page file to let vista manage it....

I find the first option (static page files on separate HDDs/oart) works well.

Or alternatively, you could leave it as it is.
