Hi.

I intend on putting together a little home recording system. I have my eyes on the E-Mu 1820M interface, and I am also still debating what monitors to get. My current thoughts are for the Genelec 8020A speakers. Now, my main strengths lie in prodution and the use of my ears rather than designing systems.

I currently use my machine mainly for games and using the internet, so when I have my recording system going it will be a multi function PC. My question is basically, will this soundcard have any compatibility problems with games?

Genelec - mmmmm, nice :)

Your soundcard won't support EAX and all the whizzy stuff games do - but when it does make a noise it'll sound 100x better than on any gaming card ;)

Just set it as the default sound device in Windows and it should be fine.
Most recording cards won't have any problems reproducing simple stereo sound from a game.

I find that the occasional game suffers from some sound skipping with my Delta66, but it's nothing game-destroying and only happens with about one game in ten.

If I really cared I'd run two soundcards together - one for games and one for work.
