have tried to clean out and still not working.

is there any idea why they would stop working and best way to get them back?

If you have a USB keyboard of your own, try plugging it in and making sure those keys work. It'll at least rule out some kind of software issue.

I think the chances of that turning up anything useful are very slim, but at least it's free and quick.

Try giving the laptop a judicious twist / flex. Don't force it, just a bit of a push.

This is sometimes a temporary fix, but I've seen laptop keyboard go on to work for another several years after this treatment.

When you cleaned it, did you remove the keys to clean under them?
If not, do so. Keys can be unclipped by picking from one corner with a finger nail, you can then clean the rubber button and scissor mechanism under the key. The key itself can be pressed back on and will click back into place.

Worst case, get a new keyboard for it from a well known auction site for ~£20-£30

ok so in past 20 mins ive taken off keyboard and given a little twist! taken the buttons in question off and cleaned under neath ( havent put back yet ) but still nothing, dont have usb keyboard as im at his house but will try when at home if i cant fix here.

dont think its software related as we done reinstall only few hours ago and it wasnt working before and isnt working now!!
