hi everyone, I have recently upgraded my GPU from HIS hd 4670 to XFX hd 5770 XXX model (preoverclocked). the reason i choose the xxx model was because i believed it would be of a higher standard to the original model, so therefore overclock even further!
I researched it via reviews and most people were happy with it, but no actual difference was found. (before purchase)
Now after doing a bit more research people are saying the card is revised (what ever that means) to V2, and is made with cheaper components. also i watched a thing on u tube were this bloke purchased two of these xxx models and 1 was about 1 and half inches bigger than the other 1, he also claimed that the smaller card was not stable default clocks and ccc did not recognise the crossfire set up! ~ This panic we as i plan to crossfire my system in the near future.
So my problem is that i tried over clocking this card tried through luck and clocked it to 960 1440 using overdrive started bbc2 game loaded played online 4 about 3min then my monitor went blank, the system was still running no reset just blank screen and a buzzing sound coming from the speakers. had to do a hard reset in the end.
I reset the clocks to default n started bbc2 again to much sure card was ok, it fine no crash. So now disabled overdrive, and downloaded msi afterburner enabled voltage control and started again, this time i only overclocked core clock to 960 and system ran fine, so tried a bit more to the core clock to 1050, game played fine for 5mins then screen went white/grey then 1min later took me back to the operatin system and a box come up and said the drivers had crashed!!!!
So what could be the the problem:
Driver issues (catalsyt 10.5)
not enough voltage (set it to 1.2v)
PSU not powerful enough (pcu calculator recommended 398w minus gpu overclock)
Crap card that wont overclock very well (hope not)
Anything else

Anyone else with this card could enlighten me to the difference in the two cards, and why i and having issues overclocking i would be most grateful .
