Some of my Artwork

Any Tips / Sites with advice / tutorials for people that want to start this sort of stuff?

As I have recently purchased photoshop

My advice would be to learn the basic layout of photoshop - what tools do, where they are, etc, spend a good while just ****ing around untuil you know where everything is.

learn how to use the pen tool efficiently and also how to use layers effectively. there should be a lot of tutorials on this.

and then just think up concepts and try and execute them as best as you can! if you're really passionate about getting good with it make something everyday, as cliche as it sounds 'practice makes perfect'

Thanks

whats this work actually called so I can find some tutorials?

i don't think there's a name for it really? abstracty randomness? lol. like i said man just learn the basics of the program first and what the tools do, then start practicing making stuff

It's all using photoshop mate, no other programs - I've posted a small step by step on the first page showing how i do the '3d' abstract pieces.

I don't use any premade things for my artwork except the odd splatterbrush for small touches on things.

Ahh, I just taught myself how to create similar effects, took about 25 mins to create a poor attempt at something, but its a start.

Pen tool, transform, perspective, gradient, action it. Can get some nice effects from this. :)

yeah something like that man :) keep practicing and post your work, i'll try to help as much as poss

Love them - honestly you should sell prints of these online !

I do :)

lolwut it's a snail. -_-

As you can see I lack imagination, and skills. But, it's a snail with wings, so it wins.

that's cool man :D i like the concept

Nice work, but I'm confused. You say you create shapes at an ultra-hi res, that makes no sense? Surely all the shapes you draw are vector based (as an alternative to being raster based) so this is not nescessary, because vectors are easily scalable?

Anway, I love the first one with the horse; crazy abstract work which actually feels like art!

Yes they are vectors...I didn't really want go into the principles of vector and raster based images when I'm trying to explain in a simple way how my work is done :P.. besides i texture/ manipulate the shapes and flatten them as raster based images so in reality, they are high-res :D

thanks for the nice comments again people

Ahhh sup Sasuke :) shame fr4gz is so dead these days :(

nice work mate, breathtaking.

You should defo look into 3d studio max / zbrush etc if it takes your fancy, one thing I've always wanted to do was some 3d abstract work.

I actually thought the first few sets of images were 3d then photoshoped with post effects, as thats how I've seen people do this type of thing before :)

thanks man - I might get myself a copy of c4d this weekend and have a play around with it, have always wanted to :)

Although the images are interesting they just dont seem like they belong in their environment. They look false and unconnected to the actual picture. Unless that is what you are going for?

You certainly have a talent but I wouldnt say its Pro. The lighting doesnt quite feel right and it alienates your objects from the scene. I think you need to pay a little more attention to what changes these objects would make to the picture as they look a little cut and paste.

Only my personal thoughts like you asked but still very interesting.

Thanks for the comments, they are supposed to look like they are in the image, as for paying attention to the changes the objects would make i feel I obsessed loads over that point exactly and pulled it off, but fair enough if you believe otherwise :) - would be nice to know what ones exactly you are talking about and where the lighting is messed up so i can touch them up maybe
