Hello all, I know you must be getting sick of these monitor threads lol, anyways I've been considering getting a monitor for a while now ( funds are slowly building up and just trying to get a ball park figure, until then im using a 720p tv ), I originally was originally going to go for the ultrasharp U2412M, with a 24 inch monitor being about the smallest I'd want to go, and say a rough price of no more than £250 for the monitor, the Dell at this price seems to be one of the best monitors, especially as its an IPS and 1920 x 1200p.
However the more I look into it the less I believe this is the right monitor for me, I'm sure the games would look impressive on the monitor but I'm an avid movie watcher and will most likely watch HD movies just as much as I would game, but with the aspect ratio of 16:10 I'm going to be left with the black lines above and below when watching a film ( or am I wrong here? ), watching movies every now and then with the black lines wouldnt bother me, but knowing that almost every movie I'l watch will suffer from this is putting me off the monitor.
Looking around at other monitors I can see that 120hz monitors are within my price range ( not overly fond of 3D however ), 120hz monitors would have advantages when gaming and film watching with increased smoothness overall (or so I read lol ) and are 1080p so would display films using the full screen natively but they seem to mostly use TN panels, and I was trying to go for an IPS screen from the reviews saying its a better panel because of colours etc.
What I'm really looking for is would say a 120hz TN panel at 1920 x 1080 worth the investment with the quick response times be better over all or would the ultrasharp still be the best option to go for? And if not the ultra sharp what would you recommend?

Most movies nowadays are 21:9 which leaves you with black bars regardless of the monitor used. Personally I never found the black bars to be a problem, they're there.. so what? Subtitles cover up less of the picture itself and when the controls pop up they don't cover the movie itself either.

I'd say go for the Dell.

Ahh okay - im screwed anyway lol, the black bars irritate me because if I feel if I'm buying a screen I'd like to use the full size that I'm paying for.
Thanks for your opinion, the dell does seem the best option at this price, it was just some of the other monitors with new features such as 120hz etc that seems like a good choice.
