hey guys, id liek to share some pics of a radio controled car ive just painted !
this car is really special as its worth over 2.5 K !
the make/ model doesnt spring to ming but its a 1/5th scale unleaded beast of a thing
the owner wanted a custom paint job on the lexan shell ( the plain shell cost a whopping £100 !! ) and gave me a very loose criteria of ' just do what ever you want ricky btu i like that realistic fire stuff"

so thought it would be nice to blend in some racing checks and fire !

here we go:

BTW ! ! ! pics taken moments after the clearcoat was applied... so theres some specs of dust etc which will be polished out when the clearcoat has hardened.

enjoy !

You're pretty hot with an airbrush dude, nice work!

Is it for a Marder, or one of the HPI sandrails?

dont think u can discuss business on the forums mate. sorry

the paints fairly expensive though, can cost upto £40 per litre for house of kolor, but i normaly just buy it in small quantities... exotic finishes cost the earth though ! ( flips and flakes, and pearls etc )

most things cost around 20-30 per litre though.
theres not a lot of one kind of paint on that car but lots of very small amounts of different paints.... LOTS lol

How hard is air brushing? Are you good enough to do custom air brush t-shirts?

I wish i could air brush, its massive in the hip hop fashion industry.

Dude, those flames look awesome man

Wow that is very nice work there, id love to have ago at that sometime, like on a pc case or something. If that was mine i wouldnt even drive that car for fear of crashing it.

ive looked into airbrushing Ts many a time but its hard to get hold of the right paints over here. i think the paints are a lot thicker, and harder to work with... i may give it a bash when ive got some spare chaange to stock up on thepaints though.

how hard is it ? well thats a pretty impossible question to answer but i can tell you its very frustrating to learn, and VERY easy to make big mistakes on delicate work. and depending on what your painting its more just about thinking and planning than painting. more work goes into preperation and masking, designing etc than what goes into the paintwork on most hobs.

again guys thanks for the response, ill sure share some upcoming jobs... and OF COURSE my PC case !

that looks absolutely awesome, wish my rc had a paint job like that, i love the chequered flags under the flames, amazing attention to detail! nice work, cant wait to see your aurora!

Great work there, flames look amazing. You must have some patience and a steady hand!

Sheesh £2.5k - thats more than my car is worth!!

Silly question: Do you need some form of licence or insurance to drive RC of this type?

no i dont think so, but ive heard... well you can tell that they can be lethal, theres a lot of momentum behind them doing the speeds they do and it would certainly break legs, but most people race them at designated sites, designed for that scale of car... not just your local duck pond ! lol.

ill get snaps of the acctual car on saturday ;)

lol i dont have much of a steady hand as i would like, but its more about judging where the paint is gonna land on the surface from the tip of the gun about 2 inches away :P as the airbrush never touches the surface ;)

No, but you can't take them out on the road.

Awesome paint job there. I look forward to seeing your other work.
