hi guys, well my steam account got hacked on saturday and finally got returned to me last night after proof of purchase, however i was speaking to one of the friends of the guy who had my account and it turns out someone sold my account on sunday to this guy inchange for cash?!. Are people really that stupid that they would hand over there money to some random guy thats just hacked a lot of accounts. both the hacker and buyer are from germany. Anyone else here had thier steam accounts hacked before?

it happens loads of time happened to me once took me ages to get the account back. as i did not have mine hl1 cdkey anymore . but i had steam receipt from other games that i bought so they gave me account back.

but now i have 2 accounts

oh well guess that guy has learnt his lesson, still a bit annoyed that someone managed to get into my account tho, looks like it was a keylogger of some sort, thankfully i have wiped my drive since

How do people actually steal your account details? Surely virus protection and anti spyware should stop nearly all keyloggers coming in?

no idea really but i was running windows firewall, esat and avg, they didnt seem to pick up the keylogger until it was to late. so i then chnaged all my passwords on another machine and formatted my system drive

had my account hacked by a Swede.....who also apparently "bought" it off someone. Got my account back, but while he had it, he got me banned from some servers for cheating, the pig. Anyway, luckily haven't encountered any servers that have me blocked.
