some pointers needed

Just ordered a new 2500k system with ssd & windows 7 to replace my e6750 running xp.

As the ssd & win 7 are new to me are there any real issues i should be aware of when setting it all up or is it just as straight forward as a normal harddrive?

Don't want to put it together to find i've done something wrong!

Make sure the ssd is the only drive installed when you do win 7. Then add other hdd after install.

make sure the sata ports are running in ACHI mode in the bios. Modern boards usually have that as default but worth making sure.

Yeah I had to change mine from IDE to ACHI. Do this BEFORE installing windows..
