Was commenting on a railway piccies thread a while back, so feel free to laugh at these :D
None are anywhere close to what I'd consider perfect, and all have minor unavoidable composition issues (IMHO), ranging from innapropriate bits of junk to platforms that are stubbornly in the wrong place

Numbers 1, 3 and 6 are probably the best of the bunch IMHO :)

Particularly pleased with #4 & #6, but IMHO some nice shots in these.

#7 and 8 are very classic looking shots tho #7 feels a little too closely cropped for my liking. (EDIT: Obviously its well framed for the subject of the shot and I understand your pictures are studies of the engines themselves - but it kind of feels like the rest of the train, bridge, etc. should have been part of the subject for that shot).

The trouble with those two was that I rather ran out of space :o
Both of them were taken from the same place standing on the picnic bench right at the end of picnic area.
With #7, backing off on the zoom would give a picnic bench to the bottom right and some bins and other stuff. Getting anything more in would probably have needed me to be trackside.

#8 also had related positioning issues with the a hedge just out of the right of the shot, and I was actually trying to get the signal just before the loco, which didn't work out.
