Hi there, can you answer some newbie questions for me please?

1) Do downloads continue when exiting the playstation store to play a game? and how many downloads can you download at once, can you download 2 demo's at once?

2) And how long do I keep the wireless joypad need to be plugged in for it to be fully charged? and how many hours does it last when fully charged?

3) Also what do the lights on top of the joypad mean, they're numbered 1 to 4?

4) Also howcome the upload speed from the playstation network doesnt seem that good? is it because its free? unlike xbox live? seems to take quite a while to download a simple 800mb demo.

Thanks in advamce,

1 - depends on the game, you can check by opening up the xmb and going to downloads during gameplay. generally speaking, games with an online function will stop the download. also you can only download 1 thing at a time though you are free to queue up as many things as you like.

2 - cant give you an accurate answer but something like an hour to charge and it probs last for like 10-15 hours??

3 - lights correspond to the player number

4 - speed seems fine to me, people have reported the dl speed from psn can be affected by your isp, or being on a wireless connection... im not too sure though

In reference to no.2 they do indeed take about an hour to charge. How long they last after a charge is down to the game, so for example something like killzone 2 with lots of rumble will run down in a handful of hours whereas something more slow paced like valkyria chronicles it will last days. You can charge the controller with a mini-usb cable while you play though so it isn't really an issue.

In reference to no.4 download speed varies greatly, on my old 20mbit virgin connection a 1gig demo would take hours, on my 10mbit bebroadband connection it's a matter of mins. Clearly virgin has some problems with the PSN in at least some areas.

I didn't really get much difference in speed when I switched from wireless to a wired connection, I did it simply for more stability as my router and ps3 are in opposite corners of the house.

Downloads are clearly slower for me on PS3 than a similar size on PC, I had always assumed this was down to psn network traffic (as i am probably downloading demos at the same time as everyone else - 5.30 on a thursday), but even so it's not really that bad.

My controllers take longer than an hour to charge, I always connect them when I get a message they are nearly empty but they take ~2 hours or more to charge.

Wireless works excellent with my PS3, it usually maxes out my 20mbit connection except for PSN update days when the PSN is getting hammered.

I'll be honest, mine is wired, i'm on a 8meg internet connection and at peak times it's PAINFULLY slow for a demo download.. Onlline gamnig seems fine though.. After midnight or early hrs in the morning, it flies !

Wireless was slower for me so I stuck with a wired connection instead.

Downloads can continue when you're in-game so long as the game you're on is not using any online capabilities.
