I'm hoping to buy a Mac either tomorrow or friday but have a few concerns about a couple of things that I hope some of you might have more idea on
(I know very little about Mac's!).

So.... my friend told me that the snow leopard upgrade is available in September, therefore, is it best I just wait until Sept to get my Mac or will it be pretty straight forward to just upgrade when the time comes?

Does anybody know the exact release date for the snow leopard?

If I buy my mac tomorrow and install things like office etc....will this be affected when it comes to upgrading to the snow leopard?

Any suggestions or advice would be much appreciated!

1) Buy now and you'll get the Snow Leopard upgrade for £7.95 when it's released

2) Not yet. "September" is the closest we've got although some people have now been charged for their upgrade so it can't be far away

3) Just do the upgrade, your system will be pretty new so it won't have much on it anyway so it shouldn't be a problem.

Snow Leopard will be extremely easy to install and there's no need to wait, if you buy your Mac now it will only cost you £7.95. (See here.)

Apple have said September 2009, there's no set date yet.

There will be an option to upgrade with Snow Leopard when installing, so all your apps etc will be left intact.

My advice would be to just go and buy one! I've always been a windows/Linux user, and I bought my MBP (15" 2.8GHz 4GB) in June, I've never been so productive, and the simplicity of using the mac is amazing.

Also if your buying the mac for longevity then make sure you buy the highest spec you can afford, then it should last the longest! (I've managed to find applications which make my mac max out the spec for 10-15 minutes a time...)!
