OK I will try to summarise to avoid a lengthy tale....
I have a new build gaming pc I put together myself last month, all was running smoothly until this week when my pc froze at some point whilst I was out for a few hours. I came home to a completely locked up system so had to push restart, that's when the problems started. Windows refused to boot so I had to use the refresh option, this did not solve anything as from that point although it would boot into windows, it would start locking up almost immediately.
A few days of testing and trying new things resulted in pinpointing one of the 2 gtx 970's is the culprit. On its own, in sli slot 1 or 2, the pc would lock up halfway though installing ANY nvidia driver and I had to start all over again.
So that leads me to question 1! I can (and have been considering anyway due to the vram issue with the 970's and the fact that these are the galax ones which aren't supposed to have coil while but do) send them both back. I'm not certain there is a logical upgrade from these cards without shelling out even more cash, and would be more than happy to just get some which work as they should albeit with the vram issue, but I really don't know, with the 8gb cards on the horizon..... your opinions matter, what would you do?

Question number 2! In my process of troubleshooting the cause of the lockups, I have reset the cmos and done a bios update (successfully!), which I believe is why I no longer have my ocuk overclock profile. I have the 4790k which is 4ghz as standard, this was binned at 4.4ghz according to my paperwork from overclockers and was set by ocuk at 4.6ghz. The profiles gone, is it gone forever or is it hidden somewhere???

Question 3! So cpuz reads core speed is 4.4ghz under full prime95 load, northbridge is at 4ghz. Whats going on here? The bios is set at default settings so the cpu must also be default right? (should be 4.0ghz? or as its binned at 4.4ghz??) This has me confused, I'm sure there is a logical reason.

Anyway, I wanted to ask as hopefully I can get everything back to normal, updated and safe with no more crashes!!!

As always, thanks in advance!!
