Some questions(Getting a new soundcard)

I have a z55000 logitech surround connected with a normal creative 5.1 oem soundcard...

I am thinking of buying an "x-fi elite pro soundcard" ..will it improve my sound quality?(have no equilizer only a built in amplifier)and will i have any distortion?

I can connect my sound via "6ch direct and optical" it is now connected via 6ch direct. If i connect it via "optical" with a xfi-elite pro souncard will i have better sound or it is the same as a 6ch direct?

Also wath do u suggest i buy as a surround headset with x-fi elite pro..like razer,medusa,steelh5?

You should hear some improvement and will gain some features. Optical shouldn't really sound any different but is useful if you have noise issues. I wouldn't bother with a 5.1 headset, go with normal stereo instead :)
 
hi m8, ive the logitech z5500 as well and i got it connected both ways you suggest(coax + direct) and its better connected direct for gaming as i find its a lot better positioning.
music sounds better on optical or coax though(stereo x2 mode) for me.
i also have the razer and medusa headsets and are both very good......just waiting for the razor sound card to arrive so i can get the most out them( they supposed to sound better with the razer card)
i find normal headphones pants for gaming ie 1 driver in each headphone and before anyone starts ive about 5 sets from beyerdynamic to Sennheiser

thnx very much mate i will keep it connected with 6chdirect since it is good for gaming ..hope i could get some other help about the xfi-elite pro soundcard with z-55000surround
