Bought a used Lenovo ThinkPad T480 for the kids. It has Windows 11 Pro and I have a few questions

1. Should I do a reset or a fresh install?
2. Win 11 has an option to randomise network address. I put a time restriction on my router so kids aren't on laptop all day. But with this option they bypass. Is there a way to completely disable it?
3. Is Win 11 polished now compared to 10? If not can I install Win 10 Pro and will it remain activated?
4. (HW related) I noticed the fan coming on when I was in settings and had nothing else open. Should try new thermal paste?
5. Can I add accounts for kids with password but doesn't give them admin access as I don't want random apps installed.

Clean out the CPU fan whilst putting new thermal paste on the heatsink (obviously clean this first with IPA).

I would do fresh install of Windows 11 and no need to randomise network address so leave that alone.

Windows 11 is mature enough at this point to use imo.

1. Personally, I would do a fresh install but either will be fine, I should think.
2. I found a solution on-line but haven't tried it myself so couldn't tell you if it works or not;
  1. Open the Settings app.
  2. Tap Network and Internet.
  3. Tap WiFi.
  4. Connect to the desired WMU wireless network.
  5. Tap the gear icon next to the current wifi network.
  6. Tap Advanced.
  7. Tap Privacy.
  8. Tap Use device MAC.

3. Windows 11 is absolutely fine in my experience.
4. Always worth cleaning things out and applying new paste to a used device IMO.
