I'm starting to get into the game in the forum like helping with specifications and troubleshooting etc.

But could the more high-end members answer a couple of questions for future reference so I can help a bit more and learn!

What PSU would be required for crossfire?
When would an i7 really be needed over an i5?
Is it just preference when it comes to air and liquid cooling on the CPU?
Does RAM speed really have an impact unless your using an AMD APU?

On Graphics cards, whats more important the core clock speed or the effective clock speed?

thanks guys!

What PSU would be required for crossfire? you need a PSU with enough power something around 800w or more, depends on what is being run, i use this when i am not sure, http://www.thermaltake.outervision.com/

When would an i7 really be needed over an i5? for video encoding rendering etc etc if your only going to game an i5 is all you need.

Is it just preference when it comes to air and liquid cooling on the CPU? Liquid cooling is better by far, but more exspensive and there are risks with it too, someone yesterday made a post about building a new computer because his water loop failed and took out all his components. So liquid better can overclock more and is quieter, Air loud cant overclock as much but is cheaper and safer.

Does RAM speed really have an impact unless your using an AMD APU? yes defiantly

Crossfire/Sli depends on the cards and the Psu itself. 7950's are quite low power so a decent (80+ silver) 650w should handle them easily. For gtx 680's id feel safer at 750w. These are minimums really. A bit of headroom is never a bad thing.

Ensure the psu has the right connectors too. Normally needs 2 6 pins and 2 8 pins.

For gaming a light use on other programs i5 is perfect. If mainly a cad or video editing rig the i7 comes into its own.

Liquid cooling is great for small rigs, though id go for air cooling if i was too spend over £50 on a cooler. High end air and closed loop coolers have very little difference.

Fast ram is good, though really 1600mhz is fine for gaming. Faster Ram doesn't impact too much.
