So I'm sitting here happily using the internet when my Netgear WGR614v6 decides to pack up. Kept dropping the connection every few minutes. I've had that in the past with a different router and upgrading the firmware worked so I tried that. Unfortunately, it said something about a memory error and didn't update. Since then I've tried to hard reset it to no avail. Must have tried about a dozen different patterns for holding down the button and unplugging the power by now and each time it hasn't worked.
So the first question. Does anyone know how to reset the damn thing? I'm still up for trying new ways.
Second question. If I have to buy a new router, what's the one people go for these days? I'll be using it with a Telewest cable modem, needs the usual 4 ethernet ports, wireless is nice too. Some capable firmware would be great too. I think I'll be avoiding Netgear. This is my fourth Netgear piece of kit to develop problems with maintaining a connection.
EDIT: it would also need to be able to comfortably handle multiple PCs, so far 5.
