2nd one would help if you had used more Depth of field. its showing a little miss focused.

Black n white without a doubt. Just use photoshop on the face plate of the clock to reduce over exposure.

The color one definitely has more impact, but, does it make it look a bit artificial - first impression was that you manipulated the hue to make it look that way!

The sun was just coming up when I was taking the photo's, so perhaps thats the reason?

I've not really ever been up at 5am, or if I was I wouldn't be looking at the sky if I was - I'd probably be trying to get back to sleep. THe sky could be green for all I know!

Let's see what other people think, I doubt the high ISO played a part - tha'd just add general noise I think not inaccurate colour.
