Afternoon!

I've recently started playing Skyrim again on the PC this time (first play through was on the PS3) and i'd forgotten how much fun it can be!

It's being well over a year since I played and just wanted some simple advice, last time I went a mage character however, this time i'm going badass mofo warrior! (Hack and slash)

I'm looking at going one handed/shield and using a bow for long distance.

Should I just put all my level up points in one handed/heavy armour/block and bows? Am I going to be at a huge disadvantage just using a character like this without any magic?

If you put Skyrim on Master and ran around naked beating people up with a rubber chicken it still wouldn't be hard. :p

Get SkyRE, enhanced combat realism and some texture mods, totally different game. Get the different starter mod too, you can do all sorts with it, you can start off as a Bandit in a tribe and they are all friendly or you can be a Guard/Mercenary etc. it's fantastic.

http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/2700/? - combat

http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/9557/? - starting mod

http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/607/? - landscape textures

http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/24909/? - armor and weapon textures

http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/10902/? - my favorite weapon mod

That's pretty much the essential mods, enjoy! :)

EDIT: I'd really comment these too, http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/30450/? (lighting), and this http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/2906/? (install it after you install the 2K skyrim mod)

Need to be careful with texture mods if you're running 1GB card(s) though. I have 2k textures running on my dual 5870's and anything more than that chokes my VRAM too much and turns it into a slideshow.

I know there's a great mod list near the end of the Skyrim thread, like an actual collection all in one place so you don't have to go hunting around.

One thing I will mention is Adura's Merchant mod: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=116775764

This mod is relatively unknown but it is SO good. It allows you to sell your own items through your own merchant stalls (limited inventory space obviously). You can't sell those 10k value items straight away though, you have to build up to it so it isn't completely broken. It works really well and eliminates the whole "wait 48 hours so this vendor can buy more stuff from me" stupidity.
