Just getting ready to sit down and watch a film with all my friends, needed to restart the comp quickly.....

Then i get this thing at the shut down screen saying do not turn your computer off, it will shut down automatically.

Thing is in between this message it says its installing updates, i have been sat here for over 20 mins and its only down 7 out 61  :(

Is it actually going to take hours? We cant watch on any one elses.....

Not much you can do really, I would never recommend turning off the computer at this stage. You should have seen a warning of this ("turn off" would have become "turn off and install updates", with a seperate "turn off only" option), but once it's started that's it.

Why haven't you installed the updates already? It sounds like it's a clean SP2 installation if there's that many, and leaving it connected to the internet unpatched for long is a fairly serious security risk.
