Just purchased a Scythe Kama Meter.

Never fitted probes before so some instructions need as product structions not to good.

Motherboard is Evga 680

Where abouts on items listed do i fit probes(best Places)

CPU(Quadro Extreme Edition QX6700)(standard Intel Cooler,at moment)
Hard Drive All sata(2 x maxtor 80 gb,1 x WD Raptor 74gb,in ali cradle at front of case,Bottom)(there are 2 80mm fans blowing on these at from front)
VGA(have 2 x 8800 EFG)
Case(Lian Li Mid Case)(Have 2 x 80mm fans on top,centre of case)

Many thanks in advance

It depends how thorough you want to be I guess..!

The case, you're trying to measure ambient temps... So put it in a part with less airflow, maybe in the top half as hot air rises. You could try and have it sticking out inside the case, so it's measuring the airs temperature not the temp of the case itself.

CPU - I've heard it's best to sandwhich it in between the CPU and the heat sink - which would mean reapplying thermal paste etc as you'd have to take the heat sink off. But I've always wondered - won't this affect how well the heatsink works if there's a probe in between the CPU and heatsink? Plus it'll make it much less of a flat surface for the two to contact with if there's a probe in the way. You could always stick it on the lowest part of your heatsink, which would give you some kind of indiciation of the temperature, rather than in between the HS and CPU.

VGA card - same as above but with GPU not CPU ;) But same question arises with how well the heatsink will work..? So again, you could just stick it in the heatsink just to get an idea of the heat. But, again, that's not very accurate...

Hard Drive - I just stuck mine on top of it haha. You don't wanna go opening hard drives, but you could attach it to the chips underneath the HDD if they're not covered.

hi m8 , i have put the probes on my waterblocks(cpu/Apogee gpu/DD 8800gtx) just to give me a temp of the actual block, other from that just use speedfan
time of writing it says on lcd= temp1(cpu) 29.6 temp2(gpu) 29.5
speedfan = sys=31 cpu=33
hope this helps
