Hi all,

I have some upgrade money burning a hole in my pocket and would like some pointer on where best to spend it

I have always built my own pc's but a year ago I bought a home built water cooled system from a guy on eBay ,

I have a i5 2500k
Asus p8p67 pro board
8 g ram
3 hdd
Gtx580

This pc was built to immaculate standards compared to anything I have ever done, mine are generally wires everywhere etc but this was lovely to look at .

I would like to change the cooling fluid but have no idea what the cooling components are inside ,

I am going to but a gtx670 in with the Intent on putting another in when funds allow

I want to go to samsung ssd drives

I only play games and never more than 3 or 4 at a time

Should I get a separate ssd for the os and is 64 big enough ?

I want a 256gb for gaming , is that a good idea?

I will keep my 1tb hdd for data storage etc,

Are ssd plug and play or do I need to do bios settings I am reading about switching stuff in the bios and not sure what I need to do ? Can I mix ssd/hdd on the same system?

Also is there an easy way to find out what memory I have without going inside coz I want to order etc before taking it apart .

What 16gb memory would be best for my p8p67 pro ?

I'm a little bit wary of doing things right, so if anybody can recommend somebody in se Kent area that does upgrades etc I really want to keep it stable and looking nice then please let me know as I would happily pay someone to do it all and maybe learn a bit at the same time.

Thanks

Adam

Generally having 1 larger SSD is faster than having 2 separate ones. If I were you I'd get the 256gb Samsung and put on the OS and whichever games you want, you should have enough room, many others have done it.

When moving your OS to the SSD you do need to switch it to AHCI, but honestly it's not really very difficult.

Yes you can mix SSD and HDD fine.

You could try the system information of your PC (type it into the search bar of the start menu), asking the guy you bought it off, or just going in and taking it out.

Samsung green is very good, as is some Corsair and G.Skill stuff. Do you really need 16gb, as 8gb will be plenty for gaming :)

Thank u for the info , I think then I will go for just the 1 drive , I will be playing arma 3 , bf3 , f12012 , rfactor 2 , and 1 flight sim, so I would imagine no more than 100 gb,
I take it ssd don't need defrag etc ? Noob question I'm sure !
