Hi all, been a follower of the forum now for a while just never got round to making an account. As of the last few years I have not been keeping up with the latest hardware and games but fancy getting back into it and giving some new releases a shot. I think my specs are reasonable however my graphics card is the serious draw back and hasn't been upgraded in years.
My system specs are

AMD Phenom II X6 1090T Black Edition
G.Skill RipJawsX 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz
250 GB SSD
Radeon 4850 512mb
Gigabyte GA-970A-DS3 Motherboard
650w Corsair Power Supply (Unsure on exact model)

Can somebody recommend the best graphics card upgrade < £150? And realistically how much longer would I have with said new card before seriously having to upgrade my full system to play the latest releases?

Your power supply will be fine for the gpu , i would see how you go before deciding to upgrade cpu and motherboard.

The 280 is at least twice as powerful as the 4850 so you should see a big improvement in game play.

6 core is still decent, but may want to overclock it to past 3ghz to make sure you do not bottleneck that 280 mickyflinn is on about
