Hey guys moving back over to linux smp in vmware but i don't know what settings to use, Cob seems to have better ppd results with 4 smp clients so im going to need 2 or 4 vm's?

What settings should i use?

number of cpu's (can only go up to two on workstation)
ram size-
hard drive size-
etc?

I did smp on my x2 before but i used 1 client and left all the settings at default i need to be a bit more conservative round this time.

Any help is appreciated. :)

Yeah, from memory Cob uses 2 virtual machines running 2 SMP Clients in each.

RAM wise, I use 500mb for mine but have used up to 1000mb before, not sure what the optimal is.

HD size, once again I was very generous and gave it 20gb, but I think thats way over the top, try 10gb.

I also have the Ethernet option on Bridged.

Once I had installed Ubuntu I also disabled the DVD Drive in one of the options menus, otherwise you can't access it in Windows very easily.

Each VM can only access 2 cores, so yeah two VMs are needed for the Quads.

I made a 20gb partition to keep my VMs separate from my main drive, and made each VM 7gb. 7gb for Ubuntu is more than enough if you're just using it to fold.

Memory wise, I gave each VM 712 mb, and the Host 1980mb. So basically I allocated half my 4gb to VMWare. You could probably give less to the Host.
