I used to have a 360, but traded it in for a PS3 (which i now deeply regret) so ive decided to sell my ps3 and get an 360 (premium or elite not sure yet.)

1: Is it really a good decision?, since the 360 has so many amazing games and the ps3 has pretty much nothing.

2: Whats in 2008 and beyond for the 360? Since im worried that 2007 might be its last strong year because of the small disc space.

3:Regarding the disc space issue, how much can a 360 disc hold? And how will devlopers work around this problem?

4: This is my biggest concern, how is the 360 for single player gaming? Since my connection is currently awful and im having severe problems with virgin media, online gaming is pretty much out of the question for now, it will be ok to go on and recover my old gamertag and stuff like that, but downloading demos and gaming (well most of the time) will be very hard to do, are there a lot of single player games that are good on the 360? I no of oblivion and condemned, then theres mass effect coming out soon. And because of small disc space, i reckon developers are just making multiplayer the primary part of games and giving them very short campaigns and stuff like that (GRAW2).

5:At the moment the 360 is pretty much the lead devlopment console for multiplat games, will this stay that way?

6: Elite or premium, whats better :p considering what i have put about online and stuff.

7: TV wise, i have a 40 inch tv downstairs which is fine, but sine thats always being used im thinking about getting something like this from ocuk for my bedroom, would it be good enough considering there so cheap?:

thanks. :)

its hard to give a definitive answer on your other questions but i think if you are primarily playing games then the 360 makes the most sense at the minute. (thats not slagging the PS3 off in the slightest)

Disc space on a DVD-DL is about 9GB i do believe and think that people are making a bigger deal out of disk space at the minute than is neccessary.

If you arent going to be downloading demos and that then i reckon the Premium will be fine, although it may be worth waiting till the HDMI premiums come into stock in the UK.

I can recommend that Hannspree 32" TV as I have one myself and the television is great for 360. I havent tried it with anything else, but for the price its a great television.

thanks for the answers :), could you possibly tell me the exact length from side to side of the hanspree tv? As i need to make sure it will fit in my room :p

Yep.

Games that run on rails will just use more than one disc if they really have to. Developers are clever sods, they *will* work around it.

3:Regarding the disc space issue, how much can a 360 disc hold? And how will devlopers work around this problem?
There's loads of different ways developers save on space at the moment, and they're only getting better at it as time goes on.

Well as you kow developers make games for the 360 then port to the rest, this means that multi-platform developers hardly ever work on PS3 development fully so they're unlikely to ever stray from the current way of working unless a studio makes a massive breakthrough with PS3 developing, then it might change.

Premium.

I've read lots of good reviews for both of those, I'd go for the Hannspree.

1) I think it's a great time for gaming with the 360 at present. Bioshock and Blue Dragon are both tremendous games and Mass Effect alone should warrant a 360 purchase.

2) There's a lot announced on the horizon incl. Too Human, Fable 2, Last Remenant, Alan Wake and a lot that's not been mentioned incl. Ninja Garden 2, Dead Rising 2. I wouldn't worry, 2008 could be better than 2007!

3) C. 7.5Gb and yes it could be an issue though I really don't think it will. Mass Effect, Bioshock, Halo 3, PGR4 are all fine and the bigger JRPGS are coming on multiple discs. We're nearly 2 years into the 360 life and it hasn't been a problem so far, at all.

4) All the games I've mentioned are Single Player games. No worries here.

5) Can't see it changing, developers have got used to the MS development tools but I'd expect the difference between games on the different platforms to become negligible as Sony release better tools and developers become more familiar with them.

6) If you're not going online get a Premium.

Why would it run quicker/smoother

It's not quieter either, there have been no cooling improvements and the DVD drives are exactly the same.

I traded in a core system with a h/drive last week for an elite.
The elite makes a lot less noise than my core system did.
The elite i got has the new benq dvd drive and that is not as noisy and you can just hear a faint humming noise from the cooling fans.
It also has the larger heat sink on the gpu.
The picture quality is a lot better using HDMI.
I tried component and vga on my core system and was amazed with the difference HDMI made.

hmm.. im pretty much sure i should get a 360 now, looks to have a good future :), now its just the 'ol premium vs elite debate :p

What price differences are we looking at here?

I'd personally get an Elite as I prefer the black colour, I have a 1080p HDMI TV so may as well make use of the ports :p oh and it's tidier cable wise. And there's the hard drive space which you never have to worry about. I presume you will sort your internet connection one day...

Its been on loads of forums thats what microsoft have been doing for a while now to stop the three lights of death.
If you send a failed console back to the repair centre apparently it comes back with a larger heat sink.
And the uk elites have this larger heatsink.

Heres a link.

They have quite clearly stated that it is a complete lottery as to whether you'll get one of these new revisions if you buy an Elite.

Well the one i got seems to run a lot cooler.
The core i had used to blow a lot of hot air out the back and from the elite its just warm.
The americans have had the elite now for a while and the forums are not full of people taking elites back for three red lights.
Maybe the elite is what the 360 should have been.
Anyway i am happy now i have a lot more confidence that when i switch it on it will work.
This is after having two 360s failing and having to go back for repair.
