Anybody with a bit of spare cash and a compressor fancy rigging up a cooler based upon this...?

You can buy a 3 to 4 SCFM tube for about £100. You'd need something like a 2HP(100LPM) compressor at 7 bar (OFA) to run it. You would get about 250(73w)BTUh (3.42 BTUh/W), maybe -40C, but you would need to remove the hot air.

youd be getting 70c air pumping out on one side of it, plus 1 million rpm doesn't seem that quiet

More like 110C. It doesn't have any moving parts, but it would whistle, some have mufflers fitted. The compressor would be louder.

Practical? No. But I'd love to someone try it.
