Shame to see the car like that though. Suprised how well it held up actually! Go MX-5!
 
They have a very very strong structure due to having no roof, if you see one thats been nailed from the side they hold up better than most other cars since the sills are so beefy.
 
that was one hell of an abrupt hard stop. just from looking, i would estimate 45-50mph followed by a dead stop.

i knew that the mx5 was built well (it is jap afterall) but had no idea it was THAT good

What did he do wrong on that turn, downhill and bad braking caused understeer?

Serious, that or shift lock it, brings the back end round slightly to stop the understeer, mind saying that he would have ended up sideways into the tree of rolling over if he got that wrong!

Happened so fast and he prolly thought he was going to make it.

yeah same as the s2k's one thing they are good at is protecting the driver

saw one on the s2k forums that had an off into trees at a silly speed (100+) and the driver walked away with a cut head.
 
Was an Mx on the tv the other week, traffic cops or something like that, it had been nailed from behind by an X5, car went driver side into a large tree, snapped the tree in half, dent in to floor but most cars would have been split in half!

That was nasty! She really was lucky to get out of that alive.

Good to see how the MX-5 faired in that crash, although if you roll it your pretty screwed.

One of my main fears is that if I crash and the side is crushed in on my legs, as they go so deep into the car. But traffic cops showed the sides are pretty damn strong.
